Start of Season Newletter:-

It’s season time again!

Last year St.Boswells were successful under outgoing Captain Alasdair McIlroy, by winning two trophy’s, the Border 20/20 Cup and the Border Sixes. Our 1st X1 finished a respectable 3rd in the Border League, which was a decent effort for a still developing team & our 2nd’s finished off in 6th place in the Reserve League. More importantly, the club made huge strides forward in bringing through some talented youngsters - there should be real competition for places this year in all our teams >>> 2012 see’s Steven ‘Tottenham’ Broom take on the Club Captaincy and hopes are high we can challenge Gala for the Border League trophy. Rory Elms takes on the 2nd XI captaincy >>> As you may have seen on the TV and in the Press, our very own Scottish Ladies internationalist Kathryn White is starting the first ever Borders Ladies team. Training starts indoors on the 10th April 6-9pm at Queens, Outdoors runs every Friday from the 22nd April 6pm – 8pm, All welcome – Sisters, Girlfriends, Wives and mothers. Any age or Ability! >>> Gerald, Alan, Sean & Thomas are looking to build on an impressive Runners up spot in the 2010 Under 13 League. The club has now been awarded the “Top Club” Approved award and will be entering teams in the U11, U13 & U15 age groups >>> After improving the drainage, laying a patio, refurbishing the club and Toilets over the last couple of years, this year’s project of installing a new Double lane training area is well underway. Currently we have a Third of the required Grants secured, thanks to tireless work by Gary Nicol >>> The club has been open every Friday during the off season and it’s every Tue, Thu, Fri, Sat & Sun during the season. We have an extensive list of Social Activities throughout the year, some are posted to the right, the full list is available in the club >>> With our ever growing fixture list we are indebted to Gordon Barkham for working miracles with our small Square and maintaining the ground to such a high standard. Further thanks must also go to Ian Athey who is continuing as our scorer, Craig McNeil who runs the Bar and Agnes Laing (Honorary Membership Secretary and 100+ Club Secretary). Agnes in particular is very keen to hear from anybody who would like to join our 100+ club. Full details overleaf >>> Also - If there are any budding Umpires, willing helpers or even those who just fancy a pint and a great setting to relax at, then please pop along >>> Last but not least…. After the huge success of last year’s St.Lucia tour, we are planning a return visit in Feb 2013. All places have now been taken, in fact we are already operating a waiting list!

New players are always required. If you know anybody who’d like a game please badger them to come along or contact Steven Broom on 07833 770975. We have League, Midweek Cup & Friendly fixtures therefore all standards ranging from total beginner to budding Freddie Flintoff’s are most welcome!
